  1. Thanks for the reply. I have not tried the script at startup but will do soon. What I have found though: 1. if i add the USER to the local Administrator group the script runs fine. 2. if i then remove the user from the local Administrator group the script continues to run fine. 3. if however it is a new user never been part of the admin group then only some printers work while others won't (even though all printers have same security settings) I also tried setting both the local security policy on the local pc and via the GPO..... Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\ Device: Prevent Users From Installing Printer Drivers *Disabled
  2. Hi all, I am not sure where to put this post so hopefully I get some responses. We are running 2003 Server with XP Pro Workstations. I am setting up a vbscript to map drives and printers at logon. The script works fine as long as the user is in the power users or administrator group on the local pc. I need to remove this access though and make them just USERS. Problem is, when I do this, some of the printers map and some of them don't. It's also different for each user. Theres no consistency. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance Stephen
  3. Hi everyone, We have just put our first test Vista Business computer onto the domain. To login to the domain we need tp type: domain\username followed by the password Is there anyway to make it the same as Windows XP being: username password domain My users have enough problems remembering the username and password let alone have to type domain\username Thanks in advance Stephen
  4. Hi all, We have a servers set up as an AD Print Server. Works great as long as the users have administrator rights on the local pcs. I have started restricting users to just 'user' permissions on the local pc due to their playing around. Now I am unable to add a network printer or if they already have it installed then it says "unable to connect" How do i restrict my users but allow them to print to network printers? Thanks in advance Stephen
  5. Hello all, I need to be able to RDP Into the server console to see some services that are running on it. I used to be able to simply go start/run/ mstsc /console and it would work. It still does from other pcs in my office just not from my pc. No idea what has changed. Does anyone have a clue? Thanks in advance
