hello, i currently have a windows 2003 domain environment with the same internal domain as my external domain. I also have exchange 2007 with mail working perfectly fine except for my remote site. I have a dedicated ipsec vpn line to my remote site that is part of my domain. The windows 2003 server that i have on the remote site has active directory integrated zone and i have configured a site link to my main office using active directory sites and services. So my primary network is address 192.168.1.0 and remote is 192.168.2.0. when the vpn link is up an running all mail flows smoothy but the problem arises when the connection drops due to internet problems at the remote site. When the link is down users at the remote site cant get email through outlook or owa. Im pretty sure the reason is because the remote mail clients go through the vpn link to get access to email. I know the root of the problem is because im using the same internal and external domain name. i create an A record on my remote dns server saying anything going to mail.xxx.xxx go to the external ip address and i left the existing A record in place which point to my mail server's internal ip address. i had my brother change that at the remote site but dont know if it will work. Any recommendations on how to fix this? Thanks

Hello, Im planning on deploying to site to site vpn. Currently i have a file server in the 192.168.1.0 network with a backup server using DFS on the same network. What i plan to do is move that backup file server to the remote site which has a network of 192.168.2.0. The backup server has a static ip of 192.168.1.3 and when i move it to the remote site i will configure with a static of 192.168.2.3. My question is will the backup server be able to communicate and replicate files over the vpn connection or what will i need to configure? My servers are running w2k3 r2 x64 Thanks

RRAS and no ISA. Did a custom install with VPN option

i dont see it in the route table. How would i go about getting this to work? Both servers have two nics, just on is disabled. Again, both servers have direct access to their main networks and no permitter involved. If i do activate both nics how would i configure them? thanks for the help

Hello, I currently have two vpn servers with Windows 2003 Server R2. One is a VM Machine while the other is a physical server. Each server has one nic configured with a local ip assigned. The main site has port fowarding enabled directed at the vpn server and has local network id of 192.168.1.0. The remote site has port fowarding enabled directed at the remote vpn server and has local network id of 192.68.2.0. All certicates are installed on each machine and the demand dial interface is up and running. From the main site vpn server i can access the remote network resources and vice versa. The problem i have is that these two servers are the only ones that communicate with each other. For example, on one of the main site computers i try to ping the other network and i get no response nor can i access shares. Like i said before, each server has one nic installed and have direct access to their perspective networks. There are no permitter networks on each side. The basic network setup is router with port fowarding of UDP 500 and UDP 4500 ports to the vpn routers. What i want is for every computer on both networks to be able to acess each others resources. I suspect it's because i have one nic installed on each vpn server. Can you guys please help? Thanks

I figured that autoenrollent. The domain controller was not part of the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group. After i added my second dc, the cert was installed. Now for installing software. Weird, over the internet i can install software, do windows updates, and install software is already on the local dc. WHen i try to unc to the file server and run the app i get the access denied message. Everything else seems fine no issues wahtsoever except this.

I just created an addtional domain controller using the wizard. It completed successfully but now when i try to log in with the domain admin account and try to install software i get access denied. i can remove software. Also, I noticed that certificate autoenrollement is falling on this second domain controller. Can you provide assistence as to how to test this domain controller? Its acting as a backup domain controller to the same domain. Thanks

Hi, I have an RVS4000 and love the feature set which blocks all kinds of traffice from my network. I have a w2k3 vpn server that allows my remote users to gain access to my network but the problem is this router doesnt let users connect. I have the right ports fowarded to my server and when i switch routers uing my netgear router everything works fine. Im using L2TP/IPSEC for VPN. My basic home netgear router handles this without any problems but i lose the IPS security that the rvs4000 provides. I spent numberous hours on the phone with Linksys tech support and frankly they were useless. i got a replacement router from them which had the same problem even with the latest firmware. So i ask for your help in recommending me a similar router that can block bit torrent and have the same security features as the rvs4000.
