  1. When I was staying at this hotel, I plugged my laptop (which is a member of my company's AD domain) into the available network cable and instantly all the required internet settings for the hotel's network is applied i.e. proxy, etc. It updated the homepage and even removed the existing proxy server that was already set for my company's network and replace it with their own proxy. Of course when I disconnected, all the settings where back to normal. How is this possible? I understand that, through google, there is solution that uses .pac files to do the configuration but there has to be a way to distribute the .pac files to the PC that connects to the network. I am not sure if this is what the hotel used coz all I did was plug the network cable into my PC and I got their settings right away. Does anyone know how this is done? many thanks.
  2. To answer my own question: I increased the amount of RAM on the PC and it worked. For some reason if it is 256MB and below, booting through PXE using the wim boot image (Lite Touch) does not work.
  3. I'm new to BDD2007 and WDS. I followed the steps on the documentation to used BDD2007 to install WindowsXP Sp2. I followed the steps to add the OS, add the Build and add the Deployment Point. Then clicked Update to create the Lite Touch boot image WIM file. I then added the boot image file to WDS to allow PXE boot from a test PC. Test PC then boots into PE environment but sits on the command prompt. X:\Windows\System32>wpeinit Nothing happens then after a while X:\Windows\System32> I am expecting to see the Welcome to Windows Deployment screen where it will ask me for the keyboard layout, user credentials, etc.. as stated in the procedure but nothing happens. The pc received an ip address from the DHCP server and is able to ping the WDS server. What did I miss? Thanks!
