I changed this line from: oscdimg -n -bc:\winpe_x86\etfsboot.com c:\winpe_x86\ISO c:\winpe_x86\winpe_x86.iso To this: oscdimg /bc:\winpe_x86\etfsboot.com c:\winpe_x86\ISO C:\winpe.iso Still No Luck. ==================== Just made another full run of it and found this error, when trying to install packages, the SRT package fails with a No SRT Found. This is the System Recovery Package, but I have no idea where it may be. Seems this has happened with all the tests I have tried, but just now caught it. Sorry for the additional posting, but I am a total newbie, with no tech background at all, just trying to give as much info as I can with what little I do know. But it is very close. I noticed you used the oscdimg /bc:\ with the / insted of a -. I have used the chm help files and followed their directions to builld and add imagex and PKMgr to build a basic disk, as described. I even used the file and path labeling just as described so as to simplify things even more for me. This is my first attemt useing WinPE, and everything seems to go just fine until I attempt to boot from my cd. From there I keep getting "ntldr missing". This is mainly useing Virtual PC 2007. But the two times actually attempted to load from the disk on a real computer I recieved the same error. I would be glad for any helpful tips or hints at this point. Seems I needed two files, or atleast I added them and the next test worked fine. I was missing WindowsXP-KB914882-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB926044-x86-ENU.exe Had something to do with me useing XP to build the PE disk.

I would like to integrate a lanaguage pack in such a way as to have Vista running in the that language once it is fully installed. I would like the installer to be English (so I can read it), then have it up and running in Spanish once it is actully running in Windows. Integrating the actual language pack is no problem, I have actually got that done already. My problem is useing Intlconfg to setup the language.ini file. Office 11 is actually Office 2003. I read somewhere on the MS tech site that some of the Office 2007 patch files were being used on Office 2003 to patch security holes that were simalar in both versions. As for why One Care can't open them, no idea. They are just basic cab files. Might check and see if One Care, is set to scan inside compressed files.

Not being on my home system with WAIK installed, I am not positive, but I think, without the \x86\ switch in the command line, either PETools dosen't know which version (IE: x86 or x64) to run. OR, The the tool your attempting to run isnt located in "C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools" But actually located in "C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\Servicing". You can browse to the actual folders and see which folder contains the version of "pkgmgr.exe" that you actually wish to use, and use that path in your command line.

I would like to install basic programs such as sun java, adobe flash, ect. I have been useing the guide found here. http://firegeier.unattended-sponsor.de/en/sitemap.html My problem is I don't want to do a full unattended install, only install the programs. (with a hotfix updated install.wim) How would I set up a basic auto unattend with nothing but the programs? I would prefer to fill in all the basic info myself, such as key, date/time, ect.

After burning the image twice ( my mistake ) it loaded in Virtual PC fine, maybe even quicker than the original. The only important updates missing were kb925902 Security update (now fixed) kb890830 Malicious Software Removal Tool (exe, need to work on exe files) kb915597 Windows Defender update (not publicly avaliable) I am very pleased with the results, Thanks FireGeier, and to the rest of the MSFN folks.

OK, first off, I SUCCEEDED. If it installs correctly. I hear virtual PC calling now. Just needed to bang my head on the desk top a few more times. #1-My error seemed to be in one of two areas. I had an .exe file, actually two, in my updates folder (old style hotfixs) for some odd reason. Removed those. #2 I had to unmount from PETools and mount within WSIM. WSIM wanted to mount the image before doing the actual answer file. Once WSIM was finished, I remounted in PETools to finish up. After changing those two items, the ECHO %errorlevel% returned a 0. I am currently running XP Pro-SP2. Useing the latest Vista WAIK pack. I am not useing the batch files, yet. I only want to add current security updates and patchs to my DVD. Later I would like to add programs such as Java, and a few others. EDIT: I also had to create a folder named Logs. After that, the log files created successfully in this folder.

I tried it with a Sandbox folder created before running the integrating code. Actually the result was a return to the command prompt, with no action being accomplished. Running the ECHO %errorlevel% showed the number 3.

I have been following the guide, and everything seems to work fine until I reach step 8. Once I enter the code for running pkgmgr.exe, nothing happens. No sandbox folder or log is created. If I run Echo %errorlevel%, I get the number 3. This happens with WSIM open as well as closed. Any ideas, or is that enough info? I am far from being a tech, just enjoy the learning curve involved.
