  1. Thanks PROBLEMCHYLD ! and I apologize for not having made a sufficient search. Here is your original report: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/159027-modified-sysdmcpl-4903001-for-98se/?page=5#comment-1036689
  2. Thx PROBLEMCHYLD!, it could a great idea for everyone but I have already done my own upgrade. BTW, in my registry I have those 2 keys: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\USB] "SilentInstall"="1" "SilentInstallNotify"="1" They came from the nusb.inf of Nusb 3.6e: ; Silent Driver Install HKLM,System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\USB,"SilentInstall",,"1" HKLM,System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\USB,"SilentInstallNotify",,"1"
  3. Hi PROBLEMCHYLD, is your Registry fix to add: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\USB] "SilentInstall"="1" or is it more?
  4. My bad I thought it was a new version because of the upgraded number.
  5. Hi, This has been solved since 'Unofficial Win98SE SP 3.22': http://www.htasoft.com/u98sesp/ when SYSDM.CPL was updated to version 4.90.0.3002: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/163198-it-works/#comment-1041806 https://www.techtalk.cc/viewtopic.php?p=566#p566
  6. Hi Brooke's Tommy Honey, you have a french page on this very subject here: http://win9x4ever.online.fr/index.php/dossiers-et-tutos/65-utiliser-un-ecran-large-avec-windows-9x Try to read it with Google Translate (If needed, I could try to help you)
  7. Seen here?: http://kernelex.sourceforge.net/wiki/Mozilla_Firefox Firefox 11 installs and runs unmodified on KernelEx systems, but are slow and have noticeable rendering glitches.Firefox 12 freezes after a few seconds.Firefox versions 13 and higher cause an error in MSVCR100.dll and don't start.
  8. New version 0.1.5 of Easy 7-Zip still working fine here with Compatibility set to Win 2000 SP4 in KernelEx 4.5.2 (Portable version tried). Changes log: Moves codes to 7-Zip 15.06 beta Release Date September 7, 2015
  9. Same thing here! You only need to manually add the extension in "Object name", after you have selected the file type. KernelEx is in default compatibility.
  10. I have sent a feedback and request to FastStone. BTW, on their homepage, it is mentioned: 'All products work on XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x and Windows 10' but if you compare with the last snapshot from Wayback Machine (mars 30, 2015, with FastStone Image Viewer version 5.3) you get: 'All products work on Windows 98, ME, XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8' so the bad news may be that they already know about that...
  11. Do you suggest that we should tell (ask) them about it? Do you think they would make case of such vintage OSes?
  12. I have already tried to disable KEx extensions (but not uninstall), or disable KernelEx for the Child processes, disable custom heap, as well as several other specific compatibilities, but it doesn't help . BTW, once again it is the "support for unicode filenames throughout the software" that must have broken the 9x compatibility.
  13. No glitch here since the release (for what I've done). You're right Drugwash, there's a bug! (at least that one): open a jpg file (for instance) and try to save it in another format (gif or png), you can't access the Options button! My bad. I've try all possible settings of KEx specific compatibility mode, but it doesn't help I use the legacy KernelEx 4.5.2. That could be a good reason for me to try the jumper's 4.5.2015.9 update.
  14. Choose a Notepad replacement like one of the above, rename it 'Notepad.exe' and drop it in place of the original. You will enjoy the 'good old Notepad' with so many more features metapad for this purpose is very light in one file, that means fast. You could even use a reg patch to open any non-associated file in Notepad by default.
  15. Indeed Akelpad is very impressive. I will give it a further exploration.
